Keir Starmer has vowed to struggle on as prime minister following the resignations of two high aides.
Morgan McSweeney, one of many prime minister’s longest-serving and closest lieutenants, resigned as Downing Road chief of employees on Sunday. In a press release, McSweeney stated he took “full accountability” after personally advising Starmer to nominate Peter Mandelson as British ambassador to america.

Starmer has since addressed employees at No 10 Downing Road, declaring that his authorities is united by a “driving objective” of “public obligation”.
Reflecting on the revelations surrounding Mandelson, which precipitated the current disaster, Starmer stated that the scandal risked undermining “the assumption that politics is usually a pressure for good and may change lives.”
