Over the previous few days, a whole bunch of artists have been dropping off their prized work in Mudgeeraba for the much-anticipated annual Doyles Artwork Award. Some work have even flown in from interstate to participate on this Gold Coast hinterland custom.
It’s little marvel that being a finalist within the Doyles is so sought-after; there may be over $33,000 value of prize cash throughout a number of classes, with the most important sum going to the winner of the panorama class ($20,000). Many artists have launched their careers by way of publicity from the Doyles.
Named on behalf of famend artist and hinterland native, the late d’Arcy Doyle, the Doyles has been a Mudgeeraba custom for over 20 years. It’s not-for-profit and powered by a staff of extraordinary volunteers who ship a 10-day exhibition that’s utterly free for the general public to stroll by way of and luxuriate in.
