Midnight is a 1982 American horror movie written and directed by Evening of the Residing Useless co-writer John A. Russo (My Uncle John is a Zombie; Santa Claws; Midnight 2; Heartstopper). Government produced by Samuel M. Sherman. Re-released as The Backwoods Bloodbath.
The film was shot on location in rural Pennsylvania for a mere $71,000 and stars Melanie Verlin, who would additionally function in George A. Romero‘s Monkey Shines as Nancy, and Martin lead actor John Amplas as Abraham. The movie was produced by Donald Redinger and options make-up results by Tom Savini.
Nancy is alone on the street, hitchhiking to California, away from the clutches of her sleazy stepfather. She makes associates with a pair of petty crooks on a street journey, and issues take a flip for the more serious when they’re killed by a pair of backwoods ‘cops’. Nancy is then in peril of being sacrificed to Devil himself by the wayward lawmen and their twisted siblings, in a psychotic try and resurrect their mom’s decomposed corpse…
